Proco Island Bambu Resort
Pioneer Resort on the Reefs of the Patinti Strait
Proco Island Bambu Resort was established in direct cooperation with the South Halmahera regional government - an arrangement that resulted in the reefs of the Patinti Strait being formally designated as protected areas. That is the origin story: the resort didn't arrive at sites already on diving maps. It documented what was here, worked to have it protected, and built in bamboo on the island's foreshore as a low-footprint base for accessing it. The reefs across the strait range from the macro slopes of Bukit Karang and the pelagic walls of Tanjung Paradiso to the outer Goraichi archipelago, where manta rays and whale sharks pass through, and the coral formations of Batu Paja 2 and Tanjung Surih, which the resort describes as comparable in coverage and fish biomass to the best reefs in Raja Ampat and Komodo. The resort has 14 units, a maximum of around 30 guests, and a fleet of three fibreglass dive boats - including a large flagship with an on-board toilet and shower for longer transits. Guide assignments run at four divers to one guide.

House Reef Dives are Charged Per Entry
Unguided dives on the resort's 900-metre house reef are charged at €35 per dive and are not included in the standard dive package. See the Rates page for the full list of inclusions and extras.
Dive Operations and Facilities
The daily programme offers up to four dives: a two-tank morning session departing between 08:00 and 08:30, a single afternoon dive departing between 14:30 and 15:00, and an optional night or sunset dive departing between 18:00 and 18:30. Night and sunset dives are charged separately. Boats are purpose-built fibreglass vessels; the large flagship boat is equipped with a toilet and shower for comfort on longer transits to outer sites. Guide assignments run at four divers to one guide.
Named sites in the programme include Tanjung Paradiso (steep walls with soft corals, gorgonians, and schooling pelagics), Kokoya Reef (sunken wreck turned artificial reef with macro life and colorful fish), Karatung Point (sloping walls with exceptional coral cover and biodiversity), Batu Waras (channels and overhangs for experienced divers - sharks, Napoleons, and bumphead parrotfish), Jalan Gorango (shallow coral gardens with dense schooling fish and hunting mackerel), Bukit Karang (macro slopes, particularly pygmy seahorses), Goraichi Island (manta rays and whale sharks at the outer archipelago), and Batu Paja 2 and Tanjung Surih (deep coral formations with high fish biomass). Guides are specifically trained in macro spotting, with particular emphasis on Rhinopias and pygmy seahorses. Nitrox is available for certified divers at approximately €3-4 per tank.
The beachfront Bamboo Restaurant and the elevated Sunset Bar - positioned on the hillside above the resort - are the two social anchors of the property. Non-diving activities include guided snorkelling, birdwatching, spa treatments, and village visits on request. Wi-Fi via Starlink is available in the communal restaurant and sunset bar; a flat €3 per person covers the entire stay.

The House Reef
The resort's house reef runs for approximately 900 metres along the island's foreshore and is accessible directly from the beach or jetty. It is productive for macro life and available throughout the day for independent exploration with a buddy, subject to the dive centre's safety assessment. Each unguided house reef dive is charged at €35 - confirm current pricing at time of booking.
